For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 506 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 506 | My '56 235 bored .040 over with a single Rochester carb. Other than a Pertronix ignition, the engine is stock, with hydraulic lifters. It also has a ton of power and torque, and too, runs like a scalded dog.
I'm with Jerry, because I have never had a problem with hydraulic lifters in a 235.
According to one of Patrick's older catalogs: The reason he gave up on the hydraulic cams was because,
"(**special note: there are, currently, no satisfactory aftermarket hydraulic lifters available. So, we suggest you install a solid-lifter cam/lifter combo.)"
also, "'58-'62 engines must use a lifter with chamfered sides to prevent shutting off rocker arm oil!"
