Actually it does in a way. The steel thread is not going to get distorted or torn up by the brass so the brass really has nothing to tear up its thread as long as the thread aren't all rusted up. Steel on steel or similar metals in general, will gaule both pieces this is where the anti-seze is especially needed. But it never hurts to use anti-seze on any threaded fastener. The brass nuts just spun right off on my exhaust after being on for at least a couple of decades, but I alway wire brush real good, any exposed thread before I try removing any fastener.
