#57259 03/03/2006 4:07 AM | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | take the cover off the shifter box - on the column under the hood, don't drop the screws! - prolly hardened up old grease, + might be mis-aligned, or both - got a manual? there's good info in it about adjusting all that setup - in neutral the 2 notches need to be directly lined up and when someone moves the lever across the neutral part of the "H", the tab should move easily from one notch to the other - look in there and you'll understand
just adjusted all that on mine recently - also check if the rods are real sloppy or gummed up where they hook into the control arms on the trans
