WB.R is correct but the number may also be located on the side (face) of the ring as some were stamped on the edge and side.
J - 08 means that the rear end was made in October of a year ending in 8, like 68, 78, 88. Which means it's a 69, 79, or 89 model year. If the ring gear thread is left hand it's probably an 8.5. the cover shape may also help but I can't remember what's what. You can find that on the link.
