If you want the paint to stick and remain durable you need to use a polyeurathane. This is commonly referred to as base coat/ clear coat.

I try to always use Dupont or PPG. Their paint sticks well and will last the life time of the vehicle.

Enamel will chip and peel as well as fade over time.
