I think having your existing head repaired is a good idea. When they found a crack in my 216 head I went thru four used heads before I found a good one that would pass magnaflux. Total investment was close to $500 before they ever did any machine work on one. I'm sure ACH could repair a head for less than that. If you do it right, you'll have close to $500 more in new guides, seats and valves by the time you get the head back on.
Of course you might get lucky on the first try.
