I thought I was almost ready to fire up the 261 I installed in my '51 Chevy 3/4 ton, but have run into a temperature sender issue. The capillary style temperature sender in the truck has a 3/8" pipe thread fitting on the end of the tube which fits into a 3/8" female hole on the old 235 head. The female inlet on the head has a land at the bottom for the flange on the tube to seat against. The 3/8" MPT threaded fitting is not water tight. The 261 has an 848 235 head that has a 1/2" FPT inlet. Using a 1/2" to 3/8" bushing won't work because of the design of the capillary tube end fitting. Is the a special adapter made for this conversion? It would have to be a 1/2" to 3/8" bushing with the stepped land at the bottom for the tube flange to seat against.
