After searching prev. posts I still have this question: I have a 1955 GMC with a 288 V8 and Hydramatic. The ID plate on the trans says: 55 CA 9872. This means it was made in 1955, it is a Hydramatic, and the serial# is 9872. Can anyone tell me anymore about this model? What is it called? What is the model? How is it different from say a 57 CA XXXX? I have a GMC hydramatic manual that was printed in 1957 and it only refernces the '57 models-I guess? If I want to run, maintain, adjust and repair this beast I want to know EXACTLY everything about it! Tell me who to talk to if no one knows this info.
