no reason at all not to run radials, rider - first thing I've done on every old truck I've gotten w/ bias tires was switch to radials - in some cases it's like getting power steering
the bearings might be a factor if you run tires that're a lot fatter than it was designed for, but radials that are close to the width and height of originals will much improve the ride and handling
