I have never pulled a harmonic balancer before. I have a 6 cyl. 235ci in a 57 chevy that I am trying to pull the lower pulley off which I am guessing is also the harmonic balancer? Anyway, I got the harmonic puller on it and when I try and tighten with the socket wrench it just turns the engine and the pistons all start going up and down. I have tried tapping on it a bit, but you really can't get behind it to tap from behind. I was told it was just a press on and should come off, but I just don't get it. What the hell is holding it on if it is just pressed on. Thanks for any replies and please be kind because I have no clue what I am talking about. The is the first car I have ever had.
