Sorry about that... I did get the gear out. It was 15/16 thin walled socket. I cleaned it up and it still appears to not hold the speedo cable. I don't know how to test to see if the gear is turning when the truck is moving.... i don't want to win a Darwin award for riding under the truck. Are there different size cables? This is a 4 speed tranny I put in my 50 chevy. The tranny came out of my 49 parts truck.
