If the heat riser is stuck in the heat on position it can get the carb too hot but that normally will cause hard start when hot issues more than vapor lock. My experience has been that vapor lock is a symptom of a weak fuel pump. There are anecdotal stories about having success in "curing" vapor lock using old clothes pins stuck to the fuel line but that's never worked for me.
