Well I drove my 49 4400 for the first time yesterday. although it was only across three acres of land from where it was unloaded to the Barn.
I spent about 4 hours resetting the timing, then taking parts of it's rochester accessory carb(the kind with the auto choke) and a spare rochester that I had with a bad idle port screw and putting them together to have a good working carb.
So then after dinner(worked on it since about 1pm)
It fired up ran a few seconds then died.
I put a pipe plug in the wiper vacuum port and I think there some other vacuum leaks(which will get taken care of when I tear the engine down for inspection- early low press 235) then standing on the passenger side of the engine bay using a sting to work the throttle, and long screwdriver to work the choke, and a 36" pry bar to work the starter- I got it to fire up again. Ran it for a couple of minutes- then jumped in and started driving- got about 25 ft and it died- so I ran around and re-started it in the same manner- but turned up the idle speed.

All the gauges work(except speedo needle)
and the headlights, cab marker lights, interior light, all work.
the turn signals, and rear lights do not.

So then drove it into the barn, where the work begins!

Anyways. It was a fun 5 minutes.
All gears, brakes only if you pumped them 1000 times(and that was after adding fluid)
Engine has a rusty header pipe that ends before the muffler- so a little loud.

It was great. . . . smile
