This is a big thank you to all the generous and knowleadgable members of the Stovebolt. Two years ago, I bought a '49 half-ton that had been sitting in a barn for who knows how long. That much was evident by the mass of mouse droppings in the cab and by the green goo in the fuel tank. Although I had owned a truck like this years ago, as I began to take Ol Blue apart and put her back together again, I returned time and again to this forum for advice and tips.
This past weekend, she was finally back together enough for me to start her up and take her for a test drive. She did amazingly well except for the engine overheating. After checking the forum once again and drilling a 1/8" hole in the thermostat to bleed the air out of the cooling system, the problem was solved.
