OldSub, you are right, I have not yet solved the ID plate stamping, to my satisfaction. My factory ID plate on my 53 3100, looks different from the reproductions. The place that you are supposed to stamp the numbers and letters, is much narrower. The 1/8" inch stamps you bought would have probably worked. Ken, was able to find a set of numbers at an auction. Still need numbers. I bought, what was advertised as 1/8" set, on ebay. Now the big task, is find a slightly smaller size for the genetator and starter. JiMerit, I appreciate the advice, concerning Chev's of 40's. I have actually been there about this very subject. As a matter of fact, that is where I bought one of the ID plates that I have. The other from Jim Carter. Both look identical. They don't seem to know anything about stamping them. I think that the VCCA is a very good idea. I think that I will do some investigating, on their site.
