The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The HiPo Shop Installing Rack & Pinion steering

I hope this is the right forum for this. I have a 36 chev with a straight axle. The steering box needs to be rebuild and I can not find a kit, so some one told me to put a rack & pinion steering from an 80 Omi in. I have looked at putting the unit in, but I am not sure where to connect the rack & pinion to? Does it have to be connected to the frame or can it be connected to the axle. The axle will move up & down about 3 inches.
