I decided to remove the lamp housings and modify the 'inners' to accept a 1157 type led lamp for now. The car show season is upon us and I gotta go. I had to set the socket back fron the lens about 1/2" more than orginal so the taller led lamp will clear the lens, which required me to fab a new mount for the socket. I found some very weathered (frayed) cloth insulated wire hidden behind the mount, so I'm glad I went to the trouble. Anyway, if all works out I'll build my led boards over next winter so everybody will be able to see my tail feathers even better.
