As Sixpack states, it seems that using heat tubes from the Fenton exhaust headers allows for heat transfer not flow of hot air.
If you look carefully at the bottom of the Offy intake, you will note that there is a separator between the two sides. This allows for heated water to flow completely throughout the intake (going in one side and out the other).
I installed a Langdon's water-heated adapter last month and the engine now has no hesitation (two Rochester one barrels for/from the 261 engines).
