I need help on a 1938 1/12 ton brake master cylinder that I am trying to rebuild. I cannot for the life of me get the side of the cylinder that looks like a bolt off. (Not the side the brake plunger shaft goes in but the side that the brake system hooks into) does this side accually come off?
The second question I have is, there is rust on the inside of the cylinder so I was going to soak it in Phosphoric acid and then wash it down wipe if off and rebuild trouble is on the side that hooks to the brake system on the inside there seems to be a silicone type ring? is that normal? when I bought the re-build kit for the cylinder I didn't receive anything that look like this it is at the very back of the cylinder but I cannot get it out cause I cannot get that side of the cylinder off. Please help a very uneducated person out here. any diagrams or pictures of other similar problems would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.
