Don't sidetrack yourself. What you are saying is that the fuel system is fine and so is the ignition system. This means it's a mechanical malfunction. The probability of this being accurate is probably 3%. If the carburetor is really fine and getting fuel, the rig will/should pop and snort...if it doesn't, the ignition system you have given the clean bill of health to is not working properly..something is wrong.

The points are historically the culprit in this situation. Don't go troubleshooting with the frame of mind that all is well...look for things that aren't' up to snuff.
