I am currently running a 54 Chevrolet car rear axle under my truck now. It measures 61 1/4" wide and fits under the truck just fine. The 55 Chevrolet car rear end measures 59 3/4" wide, so I should be OK.

If not, I'll have a 55 Chevrolet car rear axle for sale! grin
