This '54 is my first attempt at a restoration. The engine and transmission is caked in mud/grease/road grit and the cylinders are completely charred and varnished from old gas. I had a bent push rod and 3 stuck valves (which I'm still trying to get out, btw). It would crank over with the starter which was about the only positive sign. I was wondering if this would be a complete lost cause and figured the machinist would drop on the floor in laughter when I took it to the shop. After reading some of the posts on here, it appears I'm not quite as bad off as I could be. Thanks all for the quick reply to questions and to the folks that keep this site up and running. An excellent resource for the new guys to this racket.
