Holy cats! Image 63 did the trick!
My "small arm" is dangling. (No comments, please.) I guess I need to get a shoulder bolt + lock nut to attach the end opposite the geared plate to the long arm that moves.
No wonder the crank was uneffective. It wasn't attached to anything! I'm off to the hardware store right now to get some fasteners.
The pictures did it, Bill. Thanks a bunch. I wish I had the money to buy a scrap door so that I could make a view of the workings without the door panel and skin.
I have two related questions:
1 - I'm replacing the plastic bushings and the kit I got includes the metal studs that serve as axles. However, the replacement studs require a 1/4" dia. thru-hole through the arms but my existing arms have 3/8" dia. thru-holes. Is it possible ADs are different and I got an AD bushing kit instead? Do other TFs have 3/8" stud holes? I'm having to weld them up and re-drill. Grrrr
2 - Should I re-putty the bolts when reinstalling? If so, what should I use, plain ol' latex caulk? The stuff I pulled out seemed pretty low-tech, and like you say, just extra insurance against rattles.
Thanks again.
Bill
