you can sorta see on that pic of mine the top is faded out like that too, I think the "primer" below is actually the lighter gray, like they paint the whole thing the light gray, then shoot the top part with the flattened charcoal - I've never found a "correct" current number for that charcoal, but if you get a close match [steering column below the dash] and add some flattening agent, it'll fool your grandad
