I think your friend was talking about differences between a 216 and a 235 not a 235 and a 251. 235 and 261 are so similar that the clues are tougher. The captain's bars is a good identifier. I sure wouldn't try to distinguish between those 2 by looking at bolt on items. Kinda like trying to figure out which way a train went by looking at it's tracks.
