A friend of mine suggested that it is more than likely the oil leak that I have been experiencing was coming from my valve cover. I ended up removing it and had the strangest thing in the back part of the seal, a brown paper bag. Besides that being unusual I ended up starting to clean up the cover, what a mess, that thing was caked on grease/oil/dirt. Nothing was removing it easily, I ended up scraping what I could and then went to steel wool, still after about 2.5 hrs it still is not clean, but I did find out that there were vents on the cover, which had never been open before.
My question is what would having those vents covered do? I did notice a terrible smell of gas when I removed the cover which kind of surprised me.
