Both levers on the transmission are neutral when centered and one is for first and reverse and the other is for second and third. Have someone shift into first and reverse and watch which lever moves. The other one is your trouble. After Identifying the second/third lever loosen the clamp on the rod near the shift box. You need an equal amount of throw both ways from the center position. With the rod removed from the transmission end you should be able to move the lever and shift it into both gears by hand and determine where the lever should be when in gear. Make sure the rod moves the lever completly into the gear and re-tighten the clamp.Good luck.
