Diameter is 3/8". For my power steering conversion on my 235 I used bolts from a Jeep inline 6. The overall length is a bit longer so I ended up cutting about a 1/2" off. The thread length came out to be the same and so did the overall length, and a plus was it had a 7/16" stud on top which I used to bolt my upper alternator mount to.
