It possible a P.O has changed the Vin plate?
Or your truck was assembled with the very last of the factory's 51 parts inventory?

I'm not sure if Chevy trucks were built outwith the mainland factorys.
I was into VWs a while back and some were built as CDK (basically kits) by smaller production lines.i.e South Africa
Consequently some cars got older parts than the production year suggested. It resulted in some mongrels!
Someone else will chime in with more suggestions soon!
