I built my frame for my 59 - I used 2x6x.1/4 box steel. I later found out that using 1/8 wall steel would have been sufficient.
I have a factory assembly manual that I used to get the measurements from. I have some problems that I ran into that I would be happy to warn you about.
Just one hint - build a jig.
Overall - this was fairly easy and quite fun!!
