so heres the deal on the fan (I think). the truck is a 55 the motor is out of a ton and a half from a 54.
The 235 motor I took out of my truck that didnt run, has a long shaft on the water pump, this engines water pump, theres only maybe an inch from the upper pully for the belt.
it has a non tapered circular piece of metal between the pulley and the back of the fan. I have a gap of approx. 3" from the radiator. so in pecking order from engine to radiator is belt pulley, 4"-5" dia circular metal spacer w/ no taper, fan, then radiator.
The fan centerline hole measuurements are approx. (I can get exact) two and a quarter across the "X". This is straight across the about one inch raised shaft center of the fan. The 4 bolt holes that secure the fan create a square and the measurement for these holes is centerline to centerline one and a half.
my issue w/ the fan is it has been repaired numerous times and has no strength anymore and when the engines revs, the fan flexes and hits the bottom pulley. The clearance for this fan is probably less than a sixteenth of an inch to the bottom pulley.
I cant put back on the other water pump without changing alot on this engine as the prior owner removed the generator and installed a alternator, so the old water pump shaft will not be in line w/ what he rigged together for the alternator bracket.
I could put washers, I guess bwetween the fan and where it conencts to create space from the bottom pulley, or look for another fan, so I am trying the fan approach first. another option is an electric fan, but thats not as stock as I would like to be with my truck.
