My recent search of the forums here yielded almost uniform praise for Jasper rebuilding, including their GUARANTEE. Not sure if this link will work, since you have to enter an e-mail address, but try
JASPER: Before you have a Myocardial Infarction at the price, keep in mind that this is for a complete, top to bottom rebuild, new parts, everything, with warrantee.
I paid a local rebuilder outside of St. Louis a similar amount on my recent rebuild, and, though he seems to have done an excellent job, took forever, and there's no "proper" warrantee.
The cheaper alternatives are to just have a machine shop do the block and head work and rebuild it yourself, OR find a good running replacement to drop in.
If your truck is really "solid", I'd suggest living with it for a while and getting to know its true condition first.
