I've been lurking for a while and wanted to add a few humble pictures. I purchased Judy, a 53 GMC pickup, several weeks ago. Luckily, I live in Nevada, where we can work on her outdoors about 50% of the winter days. My family and I have pulled out the rotten upholstery, wire-wheeled the lower part of the cab, cleaned and vacuumed several times, primed and painted the seat assembly and gas tank area, and pulled the glove box door and speaker grille off the dash.
The advice I need is this: will paint stripper melt the plastic ash tray handle and the steering wheel? They both have a lot of layers of paint on them. I've looked in several different spots here on the forum and there seem to be several different points of view. Anything definitive?
