Not sure what your application is. If your heads are centerbolt 64 cc you will have a good street motor. Your heads might be Vortecs. Edlbrock sells a Vortec specific intakes. If you have hood clearance use an RPM airgap. If you are on a budget there are other manifolds out there made overseas. They are knock-offs and are decent but you will have to run a thread chaser through the holes where the carb and accesories bolt up.

Simple swap-- depends on your mechanical ability.

Disconnect battery
Pull the distributor. Put your engine in TDC.
Pull the alternator
Pull the Power steering pump
Pull the water pump
Pull the water outlet and associated hoses. Little tip cut the hoses at the outlets, makes it easier to pull and not bust a radiator or ?

If you have the $$$ replace them all, hoses, belts, Alt, WP, PS, Water outlet, Thermostat, PS hoses.


Put engine on TDC and pull the distributor. Pay attention to where the dizzy is in respect to the manifold. Look at where the rotor is pointing and mark the cap and base of the dizzy. Do not turn over engine. Also a good time to replace plugs, dizzy cap, rotor, SP wires. When you stab the dizzy place white grease on the dizzy gear. When you restab it make sure the round gasket at the base of the dizzy is in good shape. You may have to make several attempts to make sure the dizzy and the oil pump cog line up.

Use good gaskets - Felpros. Only put RTV on the water inlets, the outer most square ports. pay attention to tightening sequence and torq values..11 lbs I believe.

I would use a Holley 650 or 600. Good carb. Edlebrock carbs are fussy to about fuel pressure. If you change out the cam.. It's a whole new ball game.
