The more I think about this a x-member makes sense to me. I might be able to take some messurements tomorrow and see if a big x can add the stiffness and also create the transmission crossmember. Boxing the frame, or at least parts of it, will be necessary to properly attach the x-member.
Or at least that is what I think tonight.
