I need some advice on which way to go with the rods on my 51 216 I am rebuilding. It's the last thing I need and the crank is at the machine shop getting the rod journals turned. (down to what I don't know yet). Cost is the main issue but if I could get it done similar in cost I would go with getting my rods machined to take inserts. I can't find anyone in Northern WI that will machine them for me. Any body know a place to send them? Jim Carter is about $48 each for babbitt or machined, plus $113 for bearings for the machined. What do you all think?
