A 110 v unit has a huge portability advantage and can be used with long extension cords and if you exceed the duty cycle on sheetmetal you're warping it anyway. Backed up by a 220V stick welder in the garage you can tackle anything even somebody's broken ornamental iron outside somewhere 220 is not to be found. The smaller mig will feel more like a glue gun and be generally handier. Gas is a must except for outdoor work where fluxcore is needed for windy conditions. Mine is a Lincoln.
