I agree w/ 48bigtruck. You felt she was starving for fuel, so look into that and see if you have a clear line. I had this same thing happen and it turned out to be a chunk of rust caught @ the 90 degree elbow just 2'' out of the tank, b4 the fuel filter. thus restricting fuel to the engine.
