All my life I've loved old GM trucks. My dad instilled this love for old trucks in me from the time I could ask, "What kind of truck is that?" I could then listen forever to him explaining what make of truck it was and why it was a certain year and how I could tell the difference between the years. His favourite truck of all time was the 52 chevy with the 5-window cab, and so naturally it became my favourite too. I would always talk to anyone who would listen about these trucks and how someday I wanted to own one. Around eight years ago while I was going to college, one of my buddies travelled to Alberta, Canada to visit his parents and while he was there he called me and told me he had seen a 52 GMC for sale and that it had the 5 window cab. The farmer that was selling it wanted $1200 bucks for it and so I wired him the money that day. It still ran but my buddy towed it home for me and I've been working on it ever since but haven't gotten very far. I don't really have any space to work on it at home, and I have it stored at a friend's barn 30 minutes away. Life, getting married, lack of time and money sometimes get in the way of completing a project, but I've gained a renewed interest in the old truck and want to work alot on it this year and hopefully finish it in the next few years. My goal is to make it into a daily driver and drive all over North America with it. My wife definately doesn't have the same interest in trucks as I do, but she loves this one and says I can't ever sell it.
Anyways, I'll be needing lots of advice, and I'm really excited to have found this website and that I can be part of a huge group of stovebolters.
