My dad and I worked on my 54's 235 last summer. We couldn't finish during his visit, and I never got back to it until now. I had set the valve lifters only part way back into their guides, just to keep track of their original position. Of course, I was going to get right back to the project, but... Now they're stuck and I was wondering what the best method of unsticking them would be. I was able to remove two of them. They have some surface rust, which when removed with 0000 steel wool, just leaves some gray spots and no roughness. I've soaked them with WD-40, and grabbed them with a ragged-wrapped set of channel locks, but they don't budge. Is there some super penetrant out there that would help? Any ideas?
