Tranny should be sm465, reverse to the right and back. Go to Novak for info. They also have seals and such.
http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/transmission_gateway.htm If your truck had the 4 speed, it will be no problem putting in the sm465. It's bigger and heavier than the sm420, which should have been what was in your truck. Either tranny will bolt to the bell housing for the sm465. I like the sm420 better, mainly because it will shift faster.
Two piece shafts are recommended for the long bed, but not mandatory.
