Back together tomorrow. Hopefully this will keep the oil from spraying into the starter again. It was much cleaner in there than I thought it would be. My engine was rebuilt in around 1990, and then the truck went through a few owners who were not particular about the engine, and it sat for years and years.
I switched to thicker gear oil as well. And thicker engine oil. I'm running 40wt in the engine now, and everything seems much quieter.
