I like both. I put an in-line filter underneath between the tank & pump. Dirt can foul up the pump if you don't. Then I like something in or in front of the carb. in case something comes off the line or pump & can lodge in the needle & seat. You can disconnect the line on top of the tank behind the seat to keep gas from running while you change it.
