Almost the exact circumstances you are encountering. NJ would not except an Arkansas title with a Kansas Bill of Sale...blah, blah. Anyway, I ended up going to Broadway Title in Birmingham, Ala for the paperwork necessary to get a title in New Jersey. No good! NJ DMV changed policy and wouldn't accept the paperwork from the Title company. Ended up having a friend in VA re-apply for the Broadway Title paperwork to title the truck in VA and the he sold me back the truck "on paper" with the VA Title and I was able to title it in NJ.
Check and make sure your state accepts Ala title paperwork! Cost me about $150. for Broadway Title, $100. for the State of Virginia title and $65. for the NJ title...plus enormous aggravation. Good luck. | | |
