. Hey guys, when reading tie rod end replacement the question came up to ''if you decide to replace the leaf springs''.
SO I'll ask . . . .
my question is why buy new, other than if the springs are broken but a good spring shop can replace them,
VS
re-arching the same old spring and giving new life to an old companion truck part ??
Yes I realize that where I get the work done has a lot to do w/ overall cost factors but does the metalurgy change over years and what's wrong w/ a re-arch. Certainly 50's steel is different than 2000's steel. How much to re-arch? What does the factory standard say as to height of frame or shackle angle or what measurement is/was used as a guide for such matters? I'll take measurements at each fender well, using that as a reference point, then jack the truck up and do that again for each wheel. That will tell me what has sagged more.
Any thoughts on this?? doesn't hurt to ask.
Now I'll give it a data base search as I'm sure this topic has been batted about .....
This on AD trucks.

small wheel moves by fire and rod,
big wheel fires by the grace of god,
everytime that wheel turns round,
bound to cover just a little more ground.
