As I've mentioned in the last few weeks, my transmission and undercarriage has a lot of 'protective coating' on it. I had planned on taking it to the car wash and removing what I could, then spraying Gunk, waiting, and then doing a second wash. I currently have the access panel (around the floor shifter) removed so I could do a pretty good job.
Question is, this will expose the gaskets etc. more, maybe allowing more contaminants. Since I won't be removing the trans any time soon, whould I be better off just leaving it as-is or should I clean it.
