Actually, the old thermostat was so much larger in diameter, that the new "standard size" can move far enough to one side, that a quater of the hole is exposed! I've done searches on e-bay etc., and have not found one yet.......still looking.
The original t-stat that I removed had what appeared to be a "fiber" outer ring that took up that extra diameter, but it was so deteriorated, that it just crumbled when I took it out. Surely somebody out there has seen one of these???????
