We have been using synthetic for many years. It is more tolerant to moisture than petroleum based oils. We watch the sight glass and change the oil if it gets cloudy. This year has been very low humidity because of the drought and we haven't changed oil all year. When the humidity is up, any moisture laden blowby turns to water.
