I know you thought I was thinking of the first GM car diesel, built upon the 350 Olds foundation, but I was not.
I know there are differences, but wasn't the 6.5 built more or less on the big block Chevy? That is a fine gas engine, but it won't cut it as far as a diesel goes.
I could be wrong though, I have been before.
