They're good for industrial apps because they don't need to be smooth. Now if you're wanting a 20 foot paint job then go ahead. I used an airless a lot back in the 60s shooting industrial coatings. It puts a lot of paint on in a hurry so would be very hard to control it enough to get a quality auto finish.
